One of the South Bay’s most sought after neighborhoods is the Hollywood Riviera. It stretches from South Redondo to the foothills of Palos Verdes and into South Torrance. This fabulous community has a stretch of beach called Torrance Beach on its western-most border. The original community got started in the early 1920’s and still exudes its old Hollywood Charm.
Although the Hollywood Riviera has a Redondo Beach zip code (90277) it is in the city of Torrance. Different from many other Torrance communities, “The Riviera” has a distinct feel that sets it apart from neighboring communities. The original developer of the Hollywood Riviera was mesmerized by the movie business and felt seaside properties would be an obvious location for the Hollywood “set.” Although some movies were made in the area, the Hollywood scene never materialized. What did materialize though, are shops, restaurants, café bistros and galleries know as the “Riviera Village.”
